Cartonist Price Match Guarantee

At Cartonist, we aim to provide fair, transparent and competitive pricing for custom corrugated cartons and related packaging. Our Price Match Guarantee applies to current written quotations for genuinely comparable products from eligible New Zealand manufacturers, subject to the conditions below.

1. Eligible Competitors

To qualify for price matching, the competitor must be:

  • An New Zealand-based packaging manufacturer producing the quoted cartons in New Zealand; and
  • A registered business with a valid NZBN.

Quotes from offshore suppliers, online marketplaces, resellers that do not manufacture the quoted product locally, or suppliers whose business identity and quotation cannot reasonably be verified are not eligible.

2. Product Specification Requirements

Price matching applies only when the competitor’s product is genuinely comparable. The following specifications must be equivalent:

  • Same carton style, structure and method of closure;
  • Same internal or external dimensions, measured on the same basis and within normal manufacturing tolerances;
  • Same flute type and single-wall or double-wall construction;
  • Same board grade and comparable paper specification;
  • Same printing method, number of colours, printed sides and approximate print coverage, if applicable;
  • Same die-cutting, perforation, gluing, inserts and other relevant manufacturing requirements;
  • Same order quantity for each carton size.

If any material specification, carton structure, printing requirement or quantity differs, Cartonist may provide a revised quotation instead of a price match.

3. Basis of Price Comparison

Price matching is based on the product’s ex-warehouse price before freight or delivery charges.

Both quotations must be compared on the same GST basis. Where a competitor’s quotation includes delivery, the product price and freight charge must be clearly itemised separately.

Freight, delivery fees and third-party logistics charges are not included in the matched product price.

4. Freight and Delivery Charges

Freight is excluded from the price match calculation. However, any freight or delivery charge shown on the competitor’s quotation must be separately itemised and form part of a genuine commercial quotation.

If the product price and freight charge cannot be reasonably separated, or if the quotation structure prevents a fair like-for-like comparison, Cartonist may request a revised quotation or decline the price match request.

5. Validity of Competitor Quotes

To be eligible, the competitor’s quotation must:

  • Be current, unexpired and issued within the previous 30 days;
  • Be a formal written quotation issued by the named competitor, rather than verbal, estimated or chat-based pricing;
  • Clearly identify the supplier and include sufficient business information for the quotation to be verified;
  • Include the carton specifications, quantity, unit price and total price;
  • Clearly state whether prices include or exclude GST;
  • Show freight or delivery charges separately, where applicable;
  • Offer a production lead time and payment terms that are materially comparable to Cartonist’s quotation.

6. Exclusions

Price matching does not apply to:

  • Clearance, liquidation or obvious pricing errors;
  • Rebates, credits, bundled offers or promotions where the effective carton price cannot be clearly identified;
  • Tender, contract, membership or account-specific pricing that is not available on equivalent commercial terms;
  • Expired, incomplete or unverifiable quotations;
  • Quotations with materially different carton specifications, quantities, printing requirements, lead times or payment terms;
  • Quotations issued by suppliers that do not meet the competitor eligibility requirements in this policy;
  • Pricing that is conditional on purchasing unrelated products or services.

7. Verification Process

To assess a price match request, Cartonist may request:

  • A complete copy of the competitor’s written quotation;
  • A full product specification or artwork, where applicable;
  • A product sample for comparison, where reasonably required;
  • Confirmation that the quotation is current and authentic.

Cartonist may decline a price match request where the required information is incomplete, cannot reasonably be verified, or does not meet the eligibility and comparison conditions set out in this policy.

8. Cartonist Freight and Delivery Offers

Any freight discount, subsidy or delivery arrangement offered separately by Cartonist is a commercial benefit based on factors such as order volume, destination and customer requirements. It is not part of the matched ex-warehouse product price and may vary between orders.

9. Our Commitment to Fair Pricing

Subject to the eligibility and comparison conditions in this policy, Cartonist will match a verified comparable ex-warehouse price for an eligible corrugated carton order. If a request does not qualify, we will explain which product specification or commercial condition is not equivalent.
