Cartonist Price Match Guarantee

At Cartonist, we aim to provide fair, transparent, and competitive pricing for custom cardboard boxes and paper-based packaging. Our Price Match Guarantee allows customers to request a price comparison under clear and reasonable conditions. This policy ensures fairness while maintaining product quality, service standards, and commercial sustainability.

1. Eligible Competitors

To qualify for price matching, the competitor must be:

A New Zealand–based packaging manufacturer providing local production; and

A business with a valid NZBN registration.

Quotes from offshore manufacturers, online marketplaces, or unregistered cash-only workshops are not eligible.

2. Product Specification Requirements

Price matching applies only when the competitor’s product is genuinely comparable. The following specifications must be equivalent:

Identical dimensions (L × W × H) within standard manufacturing tolerances;

Same flute type (e.g., B, E, BC double wall, etc.);

Same board grade and GSM/paper combination;

Same printing method and colour count, if applicable;

Same finishing processes such as die-cutting, lamination, perforation, gluing, inserts, etc.;

Same order quantity.

If any key specification differs, Cartonist may provide a revised quote instead of a price match.

3. Basis of Comparison: Pick-up / Ex-warehouse Price

To ensure fair comparison, price matching is evaluated based on the product’s pick-up (ex-warehouse) price only.

Shipping costs, delivery fees, or third-party logistics charges are not included in the price match evaluation.

This ensures fair comparison without penalising geographic differences or subsidised freight arrangements.

4. Shipping Fees and Reasonableness Requirement

Although freight is not part of the price match calculation, competitor shipping fees must remain reasonable.

To prevent unfair “low product price + excessively high freight” structures, the following applies:

The competitor’s freight charge must be genuine and within normal market range;

Cartonist reserves the right to assess whether freight has been inflated to circumvent comparison;

Quotes with unreasonable, unverifiable, or clearly inflated freight charges may be excluded.

5. Validity of Competitor Quotes

To be eligible:

The quote must be current and valid, issued within the last 30 days;

It must be a formal written quote, not verbal or chat-based pricing;

It must include product specifications, quantity, and unit pricing;

The competitor must offer reasonable production lead times.

6. Exclusions

Price matching does not apply to:

Clearance, liquidation, or below-cost prices;

Promotional, one-off, or special discounted pricing;

Quotes lacking essential information or unable to be verified;

Non-compliant production without tax invoices;

Internal contract pricing not available to the general market.

7. Verification Process

Cartonist may request:

A full specification sheet;

A sample for comparison, if required;

Confirmation of quote authenticity.

Cartonist reserves the right to reasonably decline a request if conditions are not met.

8. Freight Subsidies and Delivery Offers

Any freight discounts, subsidies, or delivery arrangements offered by Cartonist are:

Separate commercial benefits,

Provided based on order volume, destination, and customer relationship,

Not part of the Price Match Guarantee and not used in comparison with competitor quotes.

9. Our Commitment to Fair Pricing

When specifications, quantities, and pick-up prices are equivalent, Cartonist guarantees you will not pay more for comparable custom packaging from any eligible New Zealand supplier.
